Our Active Older Adults are a staple at the Y. Stop anyone of them and you will get a heartfelt story of how the Y has and continues to impact their life. We are delighted to offer a selection of class geared towards our active older population.
This class utilized both our selectorizer strength training and free weights to create a circuit class one day and a large group exercise program another day in the gym.
This class is great for fitness beginners and those wanting to maintain their current fitness level. Every class includes a warm up, cool down and emphasizes areas in cardio, strength, flexibility and balance training mixed with social interaction.
This class is a little less intense and targeted towards our senior population. Class size is limited to first 12 participants.
A basic exercise class designed for seniors who would like to stay active. This chair based class will give you a challenging yet fun workout. We have two class times available, twice a week. Class size is limited for safety of participants and to provide a quality class for all.
This class will move your whole body through a complete series of poses in either a seated or standing position. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of poses designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of motion. Restorative breathing exercises and a final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.
Perhaps not our “healthiest” offering, but this half hour coffee and social session takes place after our A.O.A. classes and promotes health of the mind with social interaction and fellowship.
