FAQ Headline

We offer swim lessons for a wide range of ages, starting with parent-child classes for infants and toddlers ages 6 months – 3 years old and progressing through preschool (3-5 years old) and school-age levels (ages 5 and up). Each class is designed to match swimmers’ developmental stages and skill levels so they can build confidence and safety in the water.

Our swim lessons follow a progressive level system that builds skills step by step. During registration, you can review the level descriptions to find the best fit for your swimmer. If you are unsure which level to choose, our staff is happy to help guide you to the right class.

Swimmers should come with a swimsuit and towel. Goggles are optional but can help some swimmers feel more comfortable in the water. Long hair should be tied back. Please arrive ready to swim so lessons can begin on time.

Make-up lessons are only offered if a class is canceled by the YMCA due to weather or facility issues. If this happens, we will schedule a make-up lesson when instructor and facility availability allows. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide make-ups for absences due to illness, scheduling conflicts, or other personal reasons.

Class sizes are kept small to ensure swimmers receive individual attention and instruction. Student-to-instructor ratios vary by level and age group, allowing instructors to provide a safe, supportive learning environment while helping swimmers build skills and confidence.

If a class is full, we encourage you to join the waitlist during registration. If a spot becomes available or if we are able to add another class, families on the waitlist will be contacted in the order they signed up.
