Our sports programs for children focus on the development of healthy lifestyles, the valuse of cooperation and fair play, the involvement of parents in a positive support roles, and individual children rather than the sport. Our coaches and leaders assure that the programs are developmentally appropriate, contribute to the YMCA goals for children and families, and reflect the organization's mission that everyone, regardless of sex, race, national origin, religion, or physical ability, is welcome to participate.

 

Winter Programs

PRESCHOOL SPORTS  - Youth ages 3-5

Sports Sampler - Designed to introduce the basic fundamental skills each week in a variety of sports including T-Ball, Basketball, Soccer, Football, and Sport-tacular Field Day. Program is run by YMCA staff on Tuesday nights at the YMCA from 5:15-6:00pm. 

Mini Sports - Designed to provide preschool aged athletes with a fun program that emphasizes skill development and teamwork. Program is run by YMCA staff on Saturday mornings at the YMCA from 10-10:45am.

AFTERSCHOOL SPORT CAMPS

Designed to provide young athletes with a fun and educational experience. Emphasizing the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship, participants will enjoy learning and improving their athletic abilities. Whether they are honing their skills or trying a new sport for the first time, campers will leave with a deeper appreciation for sports. Camps will be led by YMCA Staff and held once a week after school. Grades K-2 will participate on Monday's at Prairie Elementary. Grades 3-5 will participate on Wednesday's at the YMCA.

YOUTH RECREATIONAL SPORT LEAGUES

Designed to emphasize fun and fundamentals for young athletes by focusing on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and teaching young athletes the basics of sports! Youth will be divided into groups based on their grade in school. Teams will practice once a week and play on Saturday mornings. Led by volunteer coaches. Practice times will depend on volunteer availability. 

Groups: K, 1-2, 3-4, 5-6

  • Session 1: Basketball
  • Session 2: Indoor Soccer

H.Y.P.E. (Homeschool Youth Physical Education)

Newly revived and reenergized, HYPE program formerly known as Homeschool Gym is designed to provide homeschooled children with a structured physical education experience. The program aims to promote physical fitness, social interaction, and overall well-being through a variety of activities and sports. Open to youth ages 5-15. Sports/Activities may include: basketball, volleyball, soccer, floor hockey, dodgeball, rockwall, swimming, and MORE! Program is led by YMCA staff on Monday afternoons from 1-2:30pm at the YMCA. 

  • Session 1: January 6 - February 17 (No class on Jan 20; makeup on February 19)
  • Session 2: February 24 - April 7 (No class March 24)
