Child Watch is a safe, cheerful and engaging environment for children to enjoy while their parents spend time at the Y. The program is for children six months to 9 years old, and is only to be used while parents are at the Y. If your child needs a diaper change while in our care, you will be asked to return briefly to the Child Watch area to do so. This service is free to members. Non-Member children are $2 per day.

Hours:   Morning Hours Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:30 am-11:00 am   Evening Hours Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday  4:00 pm-7:00 pm

Rates:   Members Free! (child must be a member)   Non-Members $2 per hour per child   (2 hours/day max per child)

 

 

Ages: The Child Watch room is available for children 6 months up to 9 years of age.

 

Sign In/Sign Out Procedures:  Our main concern is the safety and welfare of your child even though we are not a full-time childcare facility. Every parent or guardian using the Child Watch service will be required to sign in and sign out on the log sheets in the Child Watch area.  You are also required to be in the building while your child is here, and to let us know where you will be, example: Gym, Fitness Center, Class, Etc.

 

Diapering:  If your child needs a diaper change while in our care, you will be asked to return to the Child Watch area to take care of this.  There are changing stations in various locker rooms and restrooms for your convenience.  Please check your child’s diaper before leaving him/her in Child Watch.

 

Discipline:  We will always treat children in our care with kindness and respect.  We ask that the children do the same to the Staff and the other children utilizing the Child Watch Area. Our questions or concerns will be passed along to parents as well as information regarding your child’s experiences.

 

Personal Items:  Please do not allow your children to bring toys, money, and/or other items from home as these objects are often easily lost and pose a danger to small children.  We are not responsible for lost or broken items. Items such as diaper bags, sweaters, boots, etc. should be clearly marked.

 

Health Exclusion Policy:  Please do not bring your child to the Child Watch room if he/she is not feeling well. 

 

Safety Issues: Please do not bring food or drinks into the Child Watch area. We do not want to risk allergic reaction to other kids that may encounter the item.

CHILD WATCH GUIDELINES

 

 

• No food or drink allowed in the play area. This is to avoid a possible allergic reaction to a food/drink that another child may encounter.

 

• No diaper changing or bathroom assistance is done by staff. If this is needed a staff member will seek out the adult and have them come and take care of this.

 

• If a child is upset and cannot be settled down, a staff will seek out the adult and ask them to take care of settling down the child before they remain in Child Watch.

 

• If a child is playing to rough, hitting, throwing, yelling, using inappropriate language, or will not listen to the staff on behavior issues the adult will be asked to remove the child.

 

• We will always treat children in our care with kindness and respect. We ask that the children do the same to the Staff and other children utilizing the Child Watch area.

 

• Children must be members to utilize Child Watch without a fee. Non-member charge is $2.00 and can be paid for at the Front Desk.

 

• Children must be at least 6 months old and under the age of 8 years old.

 

• Children must be signed in and signed out. You are required to be in the building while your child is in Child Watch. If not in the building you must be participating in a YMCA program that takes place off sight.

 

• Children must remain in the Child Watch area unless checked out by the adult designated to remove them.

 

• Please do not allow your children to bring in toys, money, electronics, or other items from home. These objects are often easily lost or may pose a danger to small children.
