King Turkey Day Training programs:
The YMCA will be hosting a King Turkey Day Training program for any community or area runner that wishes to participate in the Tradition of King Tukey Day (KTD). Programs are availabe for both the 5K and 10K races, the write ups are located in the titles below. Programs include a packet of information and charts to help you succeed. Participants will also have the opportunity to join in large group trainings every Tuesday and Thursday over the course of the program. Incentives, contests, guest speakers and custom group swag is included with your registration as well as a reduced fee for participating in the King Turkey Day races. This KTD 5K program was developed for individuals who do not run regularly but would like to take a step forward in developing a healthy lifestyle and maintain regular exercise. This 12 week program involves a Walk/Run style and participants will work out for set times rather than distances.
This KTD 5K program was developed for individuals who occasionally run, and may have participated in a Fun Run or other 5K event and are not concerned about times. This 12 week program is for individuals who can run at minimum 1 mile without stopping.
This KTD 5K program was developed for individuals who regularly run, participate in 5K, 10K events and are looking to improve their times or conditioning level. This 12 week program always works for participants who may not run often, but engage in regular intense aerobic or anaerobic activity.
This KTD 5K program was developed for those runners looking for a PR at King Turkey Day. These participants should already be running a regular 8+ miles a week, prior program experience not necessary. These participants may also be training for another event and wish to participate in the speed work days for their cross training.
This KTD 10K program was developed for individuals who do not run regularly but would like to take a step forward in developing a healthy lifestyle and maintain regular exercise. This program involves a Walk/Run style and participants will work out for set times rather than distances. You should be able to walk for 60 minutes without taking a break prior to starting.
This KTD 10K program was developed for individuals who occasionally run, and may have participated in a Fun Run or other 5K, 10K event and are not concerned about times. This 12 week program is for individuals who can run at least 5 minutes without stopping.
This KTD 10K program was developed for individuals who regularly run, participate in 5K, 10K events and are looking to improve their times or conditioning level. This 12 week program always works for participants who may not run often, but engage in regular intense aerobic or anaerobic activity or can run 3 miles without stopping.
This KTD 10K program was developed for those runners looking for a PR at King Turkey Day. These participants should already be running a regular 10+ miles a week, prior program experience not necessary. These participants may also be training for another event and wish to participate in the speed work days for their cross training.
